Do I need to put down a deposit to reserve a service or tour?
Yes — we require a $100 deposit to hold your date and time. That deposit is applied toward the total cost. Full payment is due at the end of the service (lessons, tour, or hire). Payment can be made online ahead of time or paid by cash or check directly to the Captain.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept credit/debit card payments (via our booking system), as well as cash or check when working directly with the Captain on-site.
Cancellation & Weather Policy
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled service (lessons, tours, or Captain-for-the-Day) are non-refundable. “No-shows” will also not be refunded. We ask that you provide at least 3 business days’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Safety is our top priority. If the forecast or conditions make it unsafe to proceed, we reserve the right to cancel. In a weather-based cancellation, you can either reschedule or receive a full refund.
What to Bring / What to Expect
I’ve never been boating — what should I wear or bring?
Wear sun-protective clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and comfortable shoes that can get wet. Don’t forget sunscreen. We’ll provide towels, but feel free to bring extras. For tours, we also supply a chilled cooler with bottled water. You’re welcome to bring additional drinks or snacks (just avoid glass containers).
Can I bring food or drinks on a tour?
Yes — we provide bottled water and space in our cooler, and you’re welcome to bring your own snacks and non-glass beverages. If you’d like to stop at a waterfront restaurant during a tour, you’re responsible for those costs.
Logistics & Facilities
Where do I board the boat? Is parking available?
Upon booking, you’ll receive a confirmation with the exact boarding location (public ramp or private dock). Some ramps may charge a parking fee. We’ll include these details in your confirmation.
Is the boat accessible for people with mobility challenges?
We aim for accessibility. Many public boat ramps we use are mobility-friendly, and pontoon-style boats allow easier boarding. If you have special needs, let us know in advance and we’ll make accommodations where possible.
Is there a restroom on board?
No, our vessels do not include onboard restrooms. However, we plan the tour route to allow multiple restroom stops on shore as needed.
Can I play my own music on the boat?
Absolutely! We have Bluetooth capability, so feel free to sync your phone and play your preferred tunes.
Does the boat offer sun protection?
Yes — we have a Bimini top to provide shade for those who want it. Still, it’s good to bring sunblock or wear long-sleeved clothing for extra protection.
Safety, Rules & Restrictions
What safety equipment is onboard?
We carry all required U.S. Coast Guard safety gear, including life jackets, throwable cushions, first aid kit, horn, VHF radio, flares, etc.
Is smoking allowed on the boat?
No. Smoking is not permitted once aboard.
Can I bring alcohol?
Yes—if you’re 21 or older. Please bring drinks in non-glass containers. We provide cold water, cups, and a trash collection system.
Can I bring pets?
To ensure safety and comfort for everyone, we generally do not allow pets on board. If you have a service animal or a special circumstance, contact us ahead of time to discuss.
Are your tours suitable for children?
Yes! We welcome all ages. Children under 6 years old and/or under 90 lbs must wear a properly-fitted life jacket while the vessel is moving. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange suitable life jackets.
Tours & Services Specifics
What type of boat do you use for tours or services?
We use pontoons and other stable boats designed for comfort and safety. (Model and size depend on the service.)
Will mosquitoes or insects be a problem?
It depends on the time of day, season, and location. A steady breeze helps keep insects down. We recommend bringing bug spray, especially in the warmer months.
Other Questions
Do you offer lessons or training (like trailer backing, docking)?
Yes! We offer hands-on lessons including safe navigation, docking, backing your trailer, etc. Our goal is to build your confidence on the water.
How long is a typical tour or Captain-for-the-Day?
Tour durations vary — commonly 2 to 4 hours, or full-day options. Captain-for-the-Day hires generally run for the length of time you want to be on the water (half-day or full-day). We’ll confirm timing with you at booking.
Can I make custom requests or route changes?
Certainly — we’re happy to tailor your route or stops (within safety and logistical constraints). Let us know your preferences ahead of time.
